How to play Kakuro
This XH0411 page combines Kakuro with a guide to the decisions it asks you to make. Complete a 4×4 sum grid with digits 1–9, no repeats in any row or column, and the displayed totals. Use careful restarts to give your round a clear purpose.
Twelve teaching sum-grid puzzles. This is not a full blocked-grid newspaper Kakuro layout.
Careful restarts
Start a fresh round when you want another attempt. Restarting may discard current progress; read the controls rather than assuming an account backup exists.
Your goal
Complete a 4×4 sum grid with digits 1–9, no repeats in any row or column, and the displayed totals.
Step by step
- Compare a row total with its fixed entries.
- Use the column total for the same blank.
- Enter digits 1–9.
- Check puzzle verifies totals and non-repetition.
Controls
Click or tap squares or graph edges. Number boards include a digit pad. Undo reverses the previous change; Check puzzle validates the solution.
A useful example
A row total 18 with fixed values 2, 4 and 7 requires 5 in the remaining cell.
Watch out for this
Repeated digits in a run are forbidden even when the sum matches.
